This week we used the paste paper we made to create journals.&nbsp; Some children wrote stories, drew pictures, and collaged the inside of their journals.&nbsp; Each child created a page to include in a community book for the library.&nbsp; These pages varied from abstract designs, pictures, and stories.&nbsp; The children chose the medium and the topic of their pages.&nbsp; Next week we will be creating poetry to add to our book.<br>

Week 2 Paste Paper

This week we got our hands quite dirty by making paste paper. &nbsp;Paste Paper is a technique used to create decorative papers. &nbsp; We used a variety of rollers, recycled materials, and tools to create designs in our paper. &nbsp;Later these pieces will be used for the cover of journals and other books that we will make, in addition to using them for collages. &nbsp; The papers the children created were filled with textures, colors, and patterns. &nbsp;Check out eh Gallery for photos of them. &nbsp; If you didn't get to make paste paper, don't worry because we made plenty of extras. &nbsp; There will be no workshops on the 11 &amp; 12 of March, So I will see everyone again on the 18th and 19th!

Week 1 Accordion Books

This week 22 children came and made accordion books at the Fox Point Community Library! Some children illustrated their books with markers and crayons, while others used collage. The books ranged in topic from children's families, buildings, a bathroom book, a book about monsters, a great day when pizza fell from the sky, an adventure story about a silver acorn, and others were wordless picture books. Just like their creators, each book was a unique work of art! Some of the older children helped others in assembling their books. They were two fun filled days of bookmaking! Next week we will be making paste paper to use for collage and for the covers of journals and a variety of other books that we will be creating! I hope to see everyone next week and tell your friends and family about our workshops!
